about the project
In a future where brain-computer interfaces have become the norm, MIRA offers users the ability to actively manage their cognitive functions. Inspired by the concept of “Kopfgefühl” (head feeling), this app envisions a world where thoughts, skills, and mental clarity are adjustable—just like tuning a dial. Users can access a Neuralink-like device to enhance focus, creativity, endurance, or even sensory perception by selectively stimulating different regions of the brain.
This project was developed as part of my application for the Communication Design Bachelor at university. The challenge was to interpret the theme “Kopfgefühl” in a creative and visually compelling way. Through the combination of UX design, interface aesthetics, and illustration, I explored how abstract cognitive processes could be translated into an interactive experience. Ultimately, the project was successful, and I was accepted.
strategic balance over optimization
The UI is kept sterile in black and white, emphasizing the technological nature of the app. Instead of simply boosting abilities, users must balance their cognitive resources, making strategic adjustments rather than maximizing everything at once.
surrealism as an emotional counterweight
To counteract the clinical feel, surreal illustrations bring the app to life. Each skill is visually represented, with a floating, meditative avatar at the center—intentionally androgynous to remain inclusive. These visuals add an emotional layer, making the abstract concept of mind enhancement more tangible.
